Wacky Thing Called Life

Wacky Thing Called Life
By Solomon's Team
Description: Hey everybody, so very sorry I couldn’t submit for the last exhibition. I had A LOT on my plate and honestly the message of the short film really is how I’ve felt these past few months. But I’d like to thank everyone who helped me with this short film, especially the likes of Frida Vossler who helped sing for this very short film! It follows pessimist Trinity the Cat as she tries to leave home to run away from her issues and decides to temporarily stay in the ambiguity inn. The manager however, Jumpetty Jipps, suggests that she should instead face her problems head on because they won’t go away if they don’t and that these troubles are only just a part of this “Wacky Thing Called Life.” A very timely film I hope you enjoy!

I think you might be the first to do an original musical number and to tell a story within that piece! That's a very special way to tell a story, and you pulled it off just right, with the contrasting voices & opinions in this duet. I think it's super-relatable that Trinity's in denial about her own hopelessness in existence. Impressively nuanced body language coming out of these simply drawn 'toons-- you even got loads of choreography during the musical number! (Especially fond of the grim reaper.) Very clear composition (visually AND musically)-- totally an anthem for our Times.

Oh my goodness. An original song and a fantastic and relatable theme. Congratulations!

So funny, but also full of heart. The music is also wonderfully interjected into the story. Great work.

Great job at creating such an energetic and relatable story! Your visual storytelling is clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed watching Trinity the Cat go from this character that's overwhelmed with the burdens that she's facing, into one that accepts her problems and the importance of facing them head on. The story structure is well organized and the song that Jumpetty Jipps (love the name by the way) and the other characters sing does a great job at conveying the message they're trying to communicate. Congratulations on creating a film that represents the current times so well and everyone involved in making this story are a talented collection of artists! Also, at the very end of your story, I thought it was cool that you included a short clip of what appeared to be hand puppets holding an umbrella. I thought that was such a cute little addition and it reminded me of this film called The Mitchells vs The Machines. It's a animated movie about a young artist that uses puppets to tell stories :)

The fact that it is musical is great. The message on the lyrics might be playing hide and seek with me.

This was a trilling ride and I could watch a whole TV show with these characters on a weekly basis! Well done!
