Water Fairies - outline

By Nanda Creates

Description: I wasn't able to finish the story yet, but here is the outline of my story. This story is about Josie, a struggling artist who is trying to find new inspiration on the Isle of Skye. During her trip, she stumbles upon some magic lakes and at night, the water she brought with her to paint with comes to life as fairies. The fairies notice that Josie is not having any fun painting and decide to steal her art supplies. In this story, Josie has to learn to let go, and enjoy the journey of making art. Something I still have to learn as well. I hope you like it so far. And I would appreciate any feedback! Thank you for watching!

I can relate to this story so much; I think you could add a little more meat in between the "because of thats". I would also like to see Josie interact with the fairies a little more. they are a big part of the story and the only thing they do is steal the art supplies. I'm sure more detail will be added but overall this is looking very promising.

Hi Jake, thanks for the feedback! Yes I am planning to add more interesting scenes when I start to work on my minor beats. But it is very good to keep this in mind!

Beautiful artwork. Nice story. The plot is straight-forward, and I like that the ending was not simply that she got into the exhibit, but that she found happiness in her art. Very enjoyable to watch.

Thank you Leslie! Did you think the plot was a bit to straight forward? I would love to hear your thoughts. I am glad you like the ending!

I don't think it was too simple/straight-forward. I think there could be lots of interesting moments while your character comes to terms with the loss of her art supplies and what that may mean for her sense of self. Flashbacks to the past, maybe show why being an artist is so important to her, and why her paintings fail to inspire her at the start. What pressures she puts on herself, and such. Also, you could show the fairies' characters in more detail, how they differ from each other, perhaps debates about stealing the supplies, or dreams about what they could do with all those new colors.

Hi Nanda! I love your story and echo everything people are saying about enjoying the process of creating rather than putting so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect or whatever it is. I’m curious if you did a final submission? I can’t find it to give you a review! You have such a compelling and relatable story, your art is simply magnificent, and I love the delightful element of the fairies and their magic. If you are still developing the story, I would love to see more of the moments of her discovering that joy in making art again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us!

Ohhh, I really love this story!! It is so beautiful, like the colorful fairies on it! The structure is very well done and the character very well described. Moreover, the drawings are simply unique and sooo nice! I like how the color palette highlights and enhances the story light in all its senses. The moral of the story is awesome, thank you for sharing this important message! FABULOUS JOB, NANDA! :)

A simple yet effective approach to communicate that art is not meant to be forced or rushed; rather, the slow process of creation is what has more meaning than quick results! As both an artist and animator, I totally relate to Josie and her struggle to create something unique and personal. We often get caught up in outside reasons for our creative struggles, such as money, deadlines, or pleasing others that we tend to lose our own unique voices, the core reason why we began creating art in the first place. It's very important to enjoy creating art because the joy and passion you put into your work will show to others from it. A great moral to inspire and encourage any artist with creative blocks!

Thank you! I am glad my message came across clearly. If this story can help inspire and encourage other artists, then I will be very pleased. <3

Of course, anytime! I should've also mentioned that your art style has a very beautiful and whimsical flow! I love how the fairies cover themselves in Josie's paint when playing with it, not only does it help them stand out more in otherwise monochromatic backgrounds, but it also shows how they reignite Josie artistic passion in their own unorthodox way! Great job!

I love the use of color and your drawings and lines are so beautiful. Its important talk about creative block and all the pressure to be an artist can be.

Thanks! I'm glad you like my drawings! I think it is important for artists who have a block to realize that they are not alone. And if my story can help start a dialog about it, then that would be wonderful.
